Illinois Institute of Technology is a national, technological, Ph.D.-granting research university, with world-renowned programs in engineering, architecture, the sciences, humanities, psychology, business, law, and design. Illinois Institute of Technology operates student housing, conference and guest housing. Housing and residential services is organized with focuses on occupancy, residential education and operations. There are seven residence halls, and four apartment buildings in which 2100 students make their "home away from home" as they pursue their education. The residence halls offer a focused and dynamic living and learning environment. In addition housing and residential services coordinates operational efforts with two university-affiliated sorority houses. McCormick Student Village, State Street Village, Gunsaulus Hall, Apartments are some of the housing choices available for students. McCormick Student Village is comprised of six interconnected residence halls that provide that opportunity. State Street Village is the newest residence hall at IIT. SSV consists of three, five-story buildings facing State Street and backing up to the Chicago Transit Authority's Green Line elevated train. The buildings contain 367 beds in two suite style buildings (two students per bedroom) and one apartment-style building (one student per bedroom). Gunsaulus Hall was recently converted into a community for both graduate and undergraduate students. The building features studio, one bedroom and two bedroom units, and is fully furnished. Gunsaulus includes amenities such as campus cable, five digit dialing, internet access and a community help desk. The high-rise apartments provide approximately 320 unfurnished apartments for faculty, staff and graduate students. A variety of apartments types are available, including studio, one, two or three bedroom units. The apartments are rented on a 12-month basis and are located on the north side of campus.
