Ringkasan program
The Forest Resource Management (FRM) program integrates forest ecology and management within an educational program that also emphasizes related environmental fields. The program builds knowledge in basic forest ecology and ecological management of forests for a variety of uses, including nontraditional forest products and conservation. This distinctive approach is brought about by coordinating a core set of forestry courses, in sampling, measurement, dendrology, silviculture, and ecology, with electives in resource-oriented courses such as soils, hydrology, air and water quality, biological conservation, and physiology; statistical analysis and modeling; and resource economics and policy.

The following are the modules: Forest Ecology and Biology (10 plus units): ENVIRON 205L Silviculture, 3 credits (S), ENVIRON 298.XX Silviculture Site Prescription, 1.5 credits (S), ENVIRON 213 Forest Ecosystems, 3 credits (S), One additional course in forest science from the options below: ENVIRON 221L Soil Resources, 3 credits, ENVIRON 234L Watershed Hydrology, 3 credits (F), Measurement of Forest Resources (4 credits), ENVIRON 346 Forest Measurements, 4 credits (F), Management of Forest Resources (2 plus credits), ENVIRON 262 Forest Management Travel Seminar, 2 credits, (1 unit per semester with rotating topics: forest regeneration, harvest effects on water and soil, and fiber utilization, may be repeated for credit), Forest Policy and Administration (6 plus credits), One course in forest/resource economics from the options below: ENVIRON 298.04 Econ. of Forest Resources, 3 credits (or NCSU/FOR519), ENVIRON 270 Resource and Environmental Economics, 3 credits, One course in forest/resource policy from the options below: ENVIRON 274 Environmental Politics, 3 credits, ENVIRON 285 Land Use Principles and Policies, 3 credits, LAW 235 Environmental Law, 3 credits, Quantitative Analysis (6 plus credits), Two courses from the options below: ENVIRON 210 Applied Data Analysis for Environmental Science, ENVIRON 255 Applied Regression Analysis, ENVIRON 259 Fundamentals of Geospatial Analysis, ENVIRON 261 Geospatial Analysis for Conservation and Management, ENVIRON 352 Spatial Analysis in Ecology, ENVIRON 357 Satellite Remote Sensing for Environmental Analysis, ENVIRON 358 Multivariate Analysis in Community and Landscape Ecology, ENVIRON 359 Advanced Geospatial Analysis, ENVIRON 385 Environmental Decision Analysis.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent of a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree) from an accredited institution and, for degree programs, satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). International applicants must have minimum TOEFL score of 83 (internet-based test) or a minimum IELTS score of 7.0.
