Ringkasan program

This program challenges the student to gain a greater depth of knowledge in music pedagogy. It offer intensive study in practical techniques for teaching, musical materials useful in all levels of education, educational psychology and philosophy, and research practices related to music learning. The master of music degree in music education is recommended for persons who have prior teaching experience and want to refine their professional expertise. The Oregon Standard Teaching Certificate is available to post-baccalaureate students and can be affiliated with the master's degree program. It is available to those interested in certification as teachers in the State of Oregon. In this emphasis, voice and piano must be used.

Modul program

The modules are MUS 611 Research Methods in Music 3, MUE 613 Research Methods in Music Education 3, MUE 632 Music in School and Society 3, MUE 638 Curricular Strategies in Music Education 3, Choose one survey course from the following MUS 660-665 Music in the 660 Middle Ages or 662 Baroque Era or 664 Romantic Era or 661 Renaissance or 663 Classical Period or 665 20th Century 3, Choose one course in music theory or music history at the 500 level or above 3-4, At least 12 credits in music education courses related to the area of emphasis at the 500 level or above 12, Performance Studies (Studio Instruction), at least 3 terms MUP Performance Studies 6-12, Appropriate Ensemble, at least 3 terms 3-6, A minimum of 6 credits at the 600 level in consultation with adviser. Suggested courses: Administration of School Music (MUE 636), Diversity in Education (EDLD 637), Law and Governance (EDLD 627), or other courses approved by the adviser. Electives must be chosen in consultation with adviser to bring final total to 52 graduate credits. Choose 1 of the following options: 0-9 - Thesis (MUE 503 Thesis: 9 credits) (at least one thesis credit must be in term of degree completion), Major project (MUE 601: Research 6 credits) or Major project consisting of a recital (performance study must be MUP 641-661 level or above).

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must be a baccalaureate in music education or the equivalent preferred from an accredited four-year college or university. Students must take an examination in music theory and music history before the first term of enrollment. Students must have a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 575 on the paper-based test or 88 on the internet based test or minimum IELTS (academic module) overall band score of 7.0.
