The mission of the department is to recruit top students to major in Accounting, Economics and Finance and then prepare them for continuing graduate education or entering the world of work. Students majoring in the department have numerous opportunities for networking and advising by their participation in the accounting, economics and finance Club and Beta Alpha Psi. Departmental faculties are actively engaged in research and publish regularly in scholarly journals. Areas of faculty expertise include economic impact modeling, forensic economics, tax law changes, earnings disclosures, competitive strategy, investment strategy, financial markets, applied econometrics and mutual fund investing.

Residential Living and Learning is a dedicated staff that cultivates an environment conducive to the active pursuit of academic, personal and professional success. The goal is to provide students with a pleasant and comfortable living environment where life outside the classroom encourages and supports the academic mission of the University. They are confident that the many individuals and experiences that students will encounter this year will make living in the campus community an exciting and enjoyable part of their college years. Living in on campus housing comes with many benefits and freedoms. As with other liberties, these freedoms come with responsibilities. Students will be asked to respect the privacy of their fellow residents, to encourage practices which create and support a learning environment, and to do their part to promote a safe and secure community. University Housing is a place they hope students will be proud to call their home while at Texas A and M University-Commerce. Whether students are a new or returning student, residential living and learning professional staff, along with Resident Assistants (RAs), resident hall association, desk staff, and office personnel will help students get to know other students, learn their way around, and get involved in campus life. They encourage students to become involved in their community. The students on campus represent a wide array of backgrounds, cultures, life-styles and attitudes. The on-campus residences provide a rich and unique opportunity for students to learn more about their self and others.
