This program is offered on San Antonio campus (traditional classes) and through the Houston Weekend Degree Program Marriage and Family Therapy prepares practitioners to deal with problems in the marital and family context, as well as in the larger social system. This program qualifies the student to become an associate member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and meets the academic requirements for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists, licensure as a Professional Counselor through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, and licensure as a Psychological Associate by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Admission requirements are if the applicant graduated from a high school in home country: the applicant must submit evidence of satisfactory completion of qualifications that would be required for admission to university-level studies in your home country. Documents, such as secondary school transcript(s), diploma(s) and any national test examination that would be required for entry into the home university will be required for admission to OLLU. Transcripts are considered official only when they bear the signature of the registrar and seal or stamp of the high school or the university. All official transcripts and other required admission documents. bachelor’s degree in CDIS with a minimum cumulative grade point average 2.50 (on a 4-point scale) on undergraduate work attempted and at least 3.00 for the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work; for applicants with a master’s degree, a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on graduate work. All applicants who did not graduate from native English-speaking countries are required to provide adequate proof of their English proficiency before receiving admission to the university. A satisfactory score of 525 on the TOEFL paper based exam or 197 for the computer-based exam is generally acceptable proof of English proficiency. The TOEFL score report should be sent directly to the university from the Educational Testing service (ETS). When sending scores, be sure to include the OLLU’s ETS School Code 6550. The TOEFL score must not be more than two years old. Photocopies or other duplication of scores are not acceptable.
