The field of management information systems encompasses the analysis, design, implementation, and management of information systems. Information systems help to control operations through transaction processing, and also support planning and decision-making activities in all functional areas of an organization. Successful information system professionals need excellent communication skills (verbal and written), technical expertise in computer hardware and software systems, knowledge of the application domain, and the ability to work well with people. The concentration requirements are 15 credit hours of graduate MIS courses. MGMT 634 (Information Systems Analysis and Design) and 637 (Database Management Systems) are required courses -- unless waived by the concentration advisor. Additional courses available for concentration credit for students to choose from are the following: MGMT 630 (Management of Information Systems), MGMT 631 (Information Systems Project Management), MGMT 632 (Web Application Development), MGMT 635 (Decision Support and Business Intelligence Systems), MGMT 636 (Information Systems Security), MGMT 639 (Advanced Topics in Management information Systems), and other courses approved by the concentration advisor. Multiple MGMT 639 sections may be used to satisfy concentration requirements as long as the topics vary.

Students Have Have earned a degree that is equivalent to the American bachelor's degree. Have earned a minimum of a 3.0 gpa (on a U.S. 4.0 scale) or comparable grade point average in upper-division (junior and senior level) work and in any graduate work already completed. Have earned a satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) as required by the major academic department or college. if English is not your first language or if English is not the official language spoken in your country, you must submit results of either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The minimum acceptable score for the IELTS is 7; and for the TOEFL is 550 on the paper test, 213 on the computerized test, or 79-80 on the internet-based test. For the CPE or CAE the minimum score is a C. International students whose native language is not English and are seeking graduate teaching assistantships, may also be required to submit an acceptable score on the Test of Spoken English (TSE). Applicants who have received a bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited institution in the United States, English-speaking Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia, or New Zealand are exempt from submitting IELTS, TOEFL, CPE, or CAE scores. Your application cannot be processed without transcripts or the GMAT score.
