This program is designed to meet the needs of the engineer who is currently functioning in a technical management position or for the individual who plans to follow this career path. The Engineering Management concentration integrates selected Industrial Engineering course work with new courses specifically developed to provide the engineer with those skills for success in Engineering Management. It is expected that this concentration will be of great interest to the practicing engineer—all course work is scheduled to accommodate the full-time or part-time student.

Students must be graduates of an ABET accredited engineering curriculum or take the necessary prerequisites to become professionally licensed. For engineering graduates who are not Industrial Engineers, the following prerequisites are usually required: IE 405 Engineering Economy, Stat 251 Probability and Statistics. All indicated prerequisites must be taken for graduation. Every student whose native language is not English must submit official scores from either the TOEFL test or the IELTS test taken within the last two years or have received a degree from an accredited U.S. Institution within the past two years. Minimum acceptable TOEFL score is: 550 on the pen and paper test, 213 the computer-based (CBT), or 80 on internet based test (iBT). Minimum acceptable score on the IELTS test is 6.5. GRE is required for Graduate Research Assistantships in all departments. The University will not enroll any student who has not been approved initially or for transfer by the Immigration and Naturalization (INS) to attend UTSI. An international student may not enroll as a probationary or non-degree student. In addition to the above, applicants to this program must have two years of engineering experience or be employed in an engineering position at the time of application.
