A doctoral degree program prepares the student for the rigorous demands of developing and implementing effective operational and management systems, and for careers in research and development, or academia. The ISE MS degree program at SJSU can be the beginning of the student?s pathway to a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt). Depending on the student's individual interest, the student is educated at the frontiers of knowledge in operations research, manufacturing systems, information systems or engineering management. This leads to a potential for mastery in ideas related to technical management, systems design, and decision-making concepts. Dissertation research often requires a strong background in applied mathematics, probability theory, optimization techniques, simulation, and computer programming.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

A bachelor's degree in Industrial or Systems Engineering from an ABET-accredited University; or bachelor's degree in Engineering plus courses specified by the Graduate Advisor to prepare for graduate work in the Department; or A bachelor's degree in a related field plus successful completion of the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) exam plus courses specified by the Graduate Advisor to prepare for graduate work in the Department. Applicants for classified standing will ordinarily be expected to have completed work for the BS degree in industrial engineering (or its equivalent) at San Jose State University or at another university with an accredited curriculum, with a grade point average of 3.0 (B) or better in the upper division work.
