This program recognizes the central roles that information scholarship, management and administration play in all sectors of our daily lives, locally, regionally, nationally, and globally. The SLIM Ph.D. library and information science (LIS) program provides an environment that fosters interdisciplinary and multicultural learning experiences for traditional and nontraditional students. SLIM’s Ph.D. program provides a research based and independent course of study for all its doctoral students. SLIM also recognizes the importance of mentoring between faculty and Ph.D. students. It is through such relationships that new and innovative processes, models, and knowledge are generated.

Graduate Admission Requirements for Academic Programs is a decision regarding student admission will be made as soon as their application file is complete and will be based on the following. Cumulative Grade Point Average 2.5 to 3.0 or better (depending on division and major) for graduates. English proficiency (TOEFL score, etc.), Minimum TOEFL score required for graduates is 550, Computer-based TOEFL equivalent score is 213, Graduate students with a TOEFL score below 575 are required to take a course in English Communication skills. If student do not meet these scores or have never taken TOEFL, student will be required to take the ESU English Placement Exam to verify their English proficiency Achievement on Examinations and Tests: Graduate international student applicants will be informed by their department/division of any required achievement tests, i.e. GMAT for MBA, GRE for MLS, etc. Minimum TOEFL Scores for Intensive English Program for graduates is 450. Computer-based TOEFL equivalent score is 133.
