It is a totally enriching academic experience at this university! Study support is readily given when needed and yes the course is value for money.
Exams are part of the admissions process. I had to submit SAT and TOEFL scores. I studied for the SAT a substantial amount ( 3 months) before actually doing it. I already had a tourist visa but had to apply specifically for a student visa. The interview experience for this was easy. All they wanted to make sure was that my English was good enough, that I had sufficient funds to cover my educational experience and that I had a valid i20 issued from DePaul. Tickets to and from Honduras are easy to obtain, but expensive. O'hare international is about an hour away from the Lincoln Park DePaul campus. There was no meet and greet service for me.
I am happy with the way my program has been structured. Although the trimester system makes it faster paced. The professors here have been exceptional, with exception of a few.
I lived on campus my freshman year but moved to my own apartment after sophomore year. Most of the student body DOES NOT live on campus. It's easy to obtain jobs through the university's online job posting system. Chicago's social scene is amazing, especially if you are over 21 years old. It is a very vibrant city, but extremely cold winters.
The university hosts career fairs tailored specifically for international students, but regardless there is always a challenge for companies to sponsor us. Being in the center of Chicago all of the big companies are situated here, so it is easy to gain access to them. There is an alumni society but I don't know how active they are.
