Over the 12 months I did my placement, not only did I develop my personal skills, professional knowledge and presenting ideas persuasively. But I also realised that I was making a genuine contribution to the team. That is what really made the experience rewarding.
Despite my everyday visit to the placement office for updates on my applications, the staff were always happy to help out. We have some of the best staff in LJMU for helping students find the right placement. During the placement year, I was assigned a placement visit tutor, who came and visited me twice during my placement and gave me ideas on how to get more out of my placement and helped me with my next years dissertation kick-off. My role was within GE Fleet Services Europe as IT Business Support Intern. My team and I were responsible for the core applications availability and performance across GE-Fleet businesses in Europe.
Placement a good idea for students as you learn so much during the year and you get a chance to apply academic knowledge in real-time projects and build up your personal and development skills. A placement year is also a gateway for a career path in the same company or a build up on your CV for standing out to better compared other students without industrial experience. My advice to you definitely apply.. If you enjoy working in fast-moving industries and challenging environments, you will be grateful at the end of the day
