I dont mind tafe - well, it's better then going to work. A day at tafe is a day off. But, then you have to do work and tests and stuff. It's like being back at school again once a week.
You need to get the apprenticeship.
Government gives $3000 over 4 years.
We don't really get assignments, but we have written and practical tests. The teacher is really laid back and friendly guy. He is helpful too, and teaches well. We don't mind him. There isn't much work outside of class time unless you're studying for exams, but I guess we learn stuff that we need to know. But you don't put it into practice until later, on the job, that's when it happens.
The facilities are good. The bes thing around here is Macarthur Square, it's bigger now and more places to eat. You can always get a feed. We usually go there after tafe though and eat on site at the canteen. The people are ok, the guys in my course are my mates so it's a good day with them.
We all already have jobs as carpenters. It's part of our apprenticeship to study.
