Academic advice I would say is if you are interested in doing MS, can bear the expenses, apply, get admitted and study well.
I took GRE and TOEFL. For Preparation went to Visu Coaching centre. I went for F1 Visa interview, my visa experience was cool. Getting tickets was easy, I took Jet Airways. Experience was ok. I didn't get any student fare. I flew from India to New York, New York to Chicago, where the University is located. Baggage rules were 1 cabin bag, 2*23kgs luggage's allowed. I didn't face any immigration issues. Indian students are very amicable so they pick me up from airport.
Professors are good. Lecture Halls are very good. Library is excellent with good number of books. As it's a MS program, TA/RA are hard to get them
I'm staying in off-campus apartment. No real worries but always need to b careful. Full sports facilities are available. Night life is pleasant. Weather gets hard. The Indian association conducts time to time festival parties for international students.
There is placement cell in this University, which looks into job prospects. There is campus placement process in place. There is no alumni society as such I know.
