Overall, it's been the most exciting part of my life; I thank Iowa State for that. What Iowa State has done for me academically and socially has helped me mature as a person. I'd probably try to convince my kids to come to Iowa State too.

Iowa State's professors have a lot of experience working in the industry. They each bring some of their own tidbits into the course. I've learned a lot about what has been done so I can have a background of what's been happening and also where the industry is going. I did a three month summer internship with Eaton Engine Air Management Operations in Marshall, Michigan. It was a great experience. I worked side-by-side with other engineers and got first-hand experience of what they did. As my internship progressed I was able to do more stuff on my own. Before I left I was making my own testing equipment and carrying out tests that the engineers asked for. Also, I would tear down superchargers and do pre and post measurements. I did a lot of testing. I designed my own test equipment and ran tests that they wanted. I designed plates and fixtures that would be used to check for leaks. I would then take an incoming shipment of parts and see if the metal casting were leaking. They would use them in presentations to show the vendors what they needed to be fixed.

Due to the great education and the opportunities Iowa State has offered me I am excited to see what the rest of my future holds. The thought that an internship was already a reality my freshman year just opened the door to many more adventures. Iowa State is opening my eyes to what I'm capable of.
