I would say uni has been a great experience in my life. Living on campus was a buzz of excitement with meeting new people and living in a new world. I have grown individually and with close friends I have made long the way. I have also lived off campus which made me look at independence in a different light...hard but worth the freedom (if thats what you want). Uni itself has been rewarding as well with a knowledge I couldn't have gained anywhere else. My experiences at uni and knowledge gained through subjects and experience will help me through my entire life.
I went straight from school year 12 to uni through the UAC process. This was relatively easy however the hardest part was finding a uni degree that suited me and then waiting for the uni offers. I received a main round offer however if you don't receive an offer in the initial intake the doors are still open. And even if you go back as a mature student you may find your grades will be better as you know what you want and this will lead to more options when you leave uni.
If you are able to receive some sort of centre link then jump at it however you need to be declared independent or parents who don't earn enough money. If this isn't you then uni do offer scholarships which you find out about through uni messages and older students. Keep an ear out and ask questions to centre link and to student services at uni as people want to help.
I love my course. The Human Movement is extremely hands on and useful in daily life. Psychology is interesting. Both studies have subjects that seem pointless but will help in the end. Lecturers are generally always willing to help and if their door is open they will sit down for a chat. I love my course but people have to understand that it doesn't get you a sports psychology degree...it doesn't even mean you are a psychologist. But if you are interested in both fields then this can be a good start to lead you into a more direct field of study and career.
I loved uni in Bathurst. It is a beautiful area and most of the time you can find something to entertain you. Uni had great facilities with a gym and sporting fields a large library and many computers. The cafes on campus are also a plus if you are catching up with a friend or at uni all day. Part time work is easy to find however it is easier if you are living in Bathurst mostly full time. Uni accommodation was good fun but the kitchens could get a bit scabby by the end of the weekend when the cleaners hadn't come since friday (and yes the cleaners came everyday monday to friday)
I am hoping there will be many job opportunities with my double degree. I have two degrees which I can use separately or join together and utilise areas of both. This is my aim to use all of my studies so none has been wasted.
