This experience is by far the most rich and valuable learning experience for me. It has exceeded my expectation. I would recommend it strongly.
It was a painful experience. The officer was easy on me. The questions he asked included "What does your father do? Who is funding your education? DO you want to come back? How much was your score in GMAT?" I woudl recommend carrying all your marksheets and an incoem statement. My selection depended on the culture of the schools, diversity in the student group and the School's faculty in thier Marketing Department. I had to take the GMAT and the TOEFL.I took sample tests and practiced from a well recommended set of books. I did try Jamboree but was not satisfied with their assitance. Kellogg does not publicise a cut off score. My advice to students taking GMAT is that the test is more a game of mind than game of knowledge. Yes, I did have interviews both with an alumni and with the Admissions Office. Yes, I had to write a Statement of Purpose. The School required me to send atleast 2. No other entry criteria are published by the School. No i did not use an educational counselor. It was easy to get tickets. I fly British Airways or American Airlines. Food is always bad specially for vegetarians. Student fare was not offered. The airport is a 40 minute car ride away. 2 bags may be checked in 1 small bag may be carried in hand. Excess baggage may be carried for an additional fees. My advice for Indian students is to carry a pressure cooker. Make sure you understand what amenitites will be available to you when you land example: bedding, food, etc.
Yes there are scholarship available. I dont have any specific information for other questions about Scholarship. The School helps admitted students get loans. The documentation process is easy.
This School is one of the best. It has by far exeeded my expectation. The academic units are chosen by the students. Faculty is very respectful of serious students and goes an extra mile to help learning. The teaching system is case based and project based. The faculty guides you and the rest of the learning depends on your intiative. Facility is top of the class to anything available in India. The answer to all the above questions is yes. The program costs appoximately $120,000 for both years in total. Living costs is included in the figure above.
The School owns an appartment building close to School. I live in such a facility. They are like normal furnished appartments. They all have kitchens, study rooms, lounge, laundry rooms, gymnasium etc. I pay $900 per month. It is definitely worth it. We can chose our room mate type so its easy to live with room mates here. Not very easy to get part-time jobs. The social scene is very active. Night travel within the city is safe. The Everest is a good Indian restraunt. Nevins and The Keg are frequent graduate haunts. A beer costs $8, Dinner could be upwards of $5, Movie costs $8. The University has a handbook that could be very useful. Weather goes from -40 to +40 in Chicago. It snows for the months of Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb. It doesnt rain very heavily. Yes warm clothing is required. I woudl suggest buying it here because woollenns in Inda cannot keep the Chicago cold out. The School is in the suburbia and may be perceived to be more expensive than the City. I have no data to belive one way or another.
We have a Career Management Centre. We have an active Kellogg Alumni Board. Alumni are a good way to learn about the companies you may recruit for.
