In my opinion the ranking of the school should be an important criterion which students should use to choose the school where they want to head to. I applied this simple but effective principle to select NYU as my destination. The decision proved right in the end and I was very happy with my choice. I graduated in 2006.

GRE and TOEFL are the normal tests. Good academics without any backlogs would be very useful. A cool and calm head at the visa interview would also help.

The world renowned Courant institute houses the CS department at NYU. It is definitely one of the best univs in the US in my research area which is Theoretical CS. This was therefore a natural choice.

I lived in a private apartment with other international students. We had a great time. The international office at the univ was very helpful. All in all it was a good experience.
