As a student I like the flexibility and creativity of the style of education.
I think my course will be a great help. We learn how to apply theory to many practical situations in the modern environment which are relevant to our everyday life and cultural experiences. It has enhanced my creativity, improved my communicative and study skills, and given me an idea of what I would like to do in my future career.
The university provides a useful Careers Service where people from relevant companies and former students talk about how particular media systems work and discuss their own experiences of working or studying in those fields. I did the EAP course (English for Academic Purposes) and French language stage 1. I found the EAP was really helpful for my undergraduate study because I learnt how to write effective essays and how to do a presentation in front of classes of students and teachers. Those skills and experiences are a great foundation for understanding how the coursework system works and what university life is going to be like. It meant I wasn't too confused in my first year. The French language course requires a lot of self-study in your spare time which I found a bit difficult to manage, so I gave it up after a year.
