Academic advice - It's a well recognized instituted and would suggest that apply, study and have fun.
GRE and TOEFL are the exams I took. Preparation wise - I did self study. F1 Visa was needed; my visa experience was easy enough to clear it. Getting tickets was easy, flew by Air India. Experience was homely. I didn't get any student fare. I flew from India to Chicago, where the University is located. Baggage rules were 1 cabin bag, 2*23kgs luggage's allowed. I didn't face any immigration issues. Indian students are very friendly so they pick me up from airport.
Happy with place and things here, professors are industrious. Lecture Halls are huge. Library is excellent with good number of both offline and online content about books related to my subject. As it's a MS program, TA/RA usually offered, but hard to get them.
I'm staying in off-campus apartment with other AP guys. There are full sports facilities with a special sports center and gym facilities. Weather gets hard during winter, especially with heavy snowfall, rest of all it's fine with the state. Well its fun as the Indian association conducts time to time parties for international students.
We do have a placement cell in this University, which looks into job prospects once my course gets over, has good opportunity of getting jobs. There is campus placement process in place. Work permit process is a bit easy as the degree obtained is excellent. No alumni society as such I know.
