I took only the TOEFL exam before applying for the course. I prepared for these tests on my own, through books and the Internet. I did not attend any coaching classes or visit an educational counselor. I applied for a Students Visa, which was very easy. I flew British Airways from New Delhi to London Heathrow. I did not get the Students fare but did get some extra baggage allowance. I could not attend the 'Meet and Greet' program because I reached much earlier.

I am happy with the way the course had been structured. Our professors were good, but there is always room for improvement. The lecture halls at LSE were pretty good. Our Library was excellent. It was huge, with enough material on every subject.

I lived in the University provided Accommodation. My experience there was very memorable. I was sharing a flat with 4 others- we had a common kitchen and bathroom. I did not have a part-time job while I was there. The nightlife in London is absolutely amazing! The people there are friendly and quite helpful. I loved the weather there. Although it got a bit cold in winter and rained often, it was very nice. The International student society at LSE was very active. They organized special events on festivals, social events and focused on different nations every week- for example- India week, Italian week etc.

The University did have a placement cell, but it was only for the Undergraduate students. It isn't very easy for International students to get jobs. It depends on the work experience at times. But in recession times it is not easy for anyone. There were some career fairs where global firms attended, but there was no process of campus recruitment devoted to postgraduates. Getting a work permit isn't difficult if you provide the correct documents. There is an Alumni society in the University and it is a very active network. But I don't think they help with placements.
