it is an extremely big step for any high school students to finally make it to university. it can be very daunting and confusing at first. and most likely, you feel that if you screw up your selection of your degree, that's the end of it. however, that isn't true. a lot of people are on the same boat. and a lot of people are very willing to help out with your problems. people are friendly, and you soon feel quite at home. you make lifetime friends that feel quite different than your friends at school. of course, the workload are so much tougher, but with a new environment, a new outlook on things and new friends, studying at university has been an enriching experience for me. my advice is give it a go and you might actually enjoy yourself more than you bargain for.

uwa is one of the best university in wa. it was very hard to get in. the cut-off mark was so much higher than other universities in perth. however, that's what makes getting accepted so much more worth it. so first of all, i had to decide which course i wanted to get it. since the beginning i had my mind set on doing medicine. but disaster struck and i didn't get a good enough result in the umat. it was disappointing at first, but with the help of the career coordinator at school and the prospectus that the university provided, i came to make the decision that i would like to try and do a combined degree, arts/science. it turned out to be the best choice i had made in my entire life. im enjoying it so much. i struggle with some of the units, but in the end, i enjoy them. after all what is life without challenge. but before i was accepted, i had to go through the toughest exams, the TEE. the score will determine whether you get in or not. it was extremely stressful doing six exams in one and a half week. but what's worse was the waiting period. i had to wait about 1 month before the results were out. then when i found out that i had been accepted, i was so happy. i rang my parents and told them. it'd be a lie if i say i have a tip to be stress-free, but i know that if you had tried the best you could, then there was nothing more you could ask for. and also make sure you thoroughly researched the university you are intending to go for.

when i first researched uwa, a teacher at school told me to look into a file full of scholarship application forms. my family came from Indonesia, and we all know that 8000 rupiah equals to 1 AUD. so it was very hard for my parents to fund my brother and me. they had to stay back in Indonesia and work there. i was honestly impressed by the amount scholarships and awards on offer at uwa. as a matter of fact, i won the excellence award. i was so happy. i had won myself a guaranteed place and $500. also, all of the scholarships on offers are available on the uwa website. there are so many people willing to help people in financial need. a lot of organizations offering student loans with extremely low interest rate. so look around you. seek and you shall find.

my course is very exciting. i get to do 2 different degree and it really doesn't get any better than that. arts units can be quite tough at times, but combining them with hardcore science units, they can be a refreshing break. in a week, i have 22 contact hours including labs. it doesn't seem a lot. but that's the purpose of being at university. you are treated as a responsible adult. and as such, you are expected to do extra study in your own time. and the tutors and lecturers are actually really nice. they are willing to help you if you seek them out. and they would like to share their experience with you. as for the study load, they are harder than anything. but there are friends that will help you out, study groups organized by older students and tutorials. also, your lecturers are more than happy to organize some private sessions if you are desperate. so yes. i did receive more support than i ever dreamed of. the value of my course is just priceless. im enjoying it so much.

uwa has a very massive campus. it is surrounded by several student college residents. it has many beautiful historical buildings. more than that, it is within walking distance of swan river. it is a very beautiful river and a site of attraction for tourists. also, uwa prides itself in its many healthy looking trees and gardens. they make you appreciate the nature more. the people around there are friendly and nice. the students are amazing and we compete with each other, but we also help each other out. unfortunately, i don't live in one of the student residents. i live in my parents' house. it is an average house with four bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. i would definitely say that it is good value for money, because it very comfortable to live in. although the distance from home to uni is quite far. but that's life. finding part time jobs are not hard, yet it is not easy either. employers are looking for the best candidates possible. hence, it is quite competitive. but there are also plenty of people requiring employees. there are also assistant within the campus. there is a career center that advertises jobs which specifically asked for university students, and there is also a website that advertises jobs within the faculties inside the university.there are plenty of student unions to join. they are there to help you relax from uni stress. but they are also more than wiling to help you solve your problems. i have joined the anime club, and they have helped me with my japanese assignment and they provided entertainment during break time.

i believe that my job prospect has definitely increased. this study has opened so many doors of opportunities. i could work as a researcher, as a pharmacologist in pharmaceutical companies, or i could even become an interpreter through my arts degree. and i will most certainly keep in touch with fellow alumni after we graduate. we have become close friends and we help each other out. they are my friends for life.
