I am currently pursuing masters at the Illinois Institute of technology. The program offered is good and so are the professors at the university. I would definitely recommend my university for future students.
I had to write GRE and TOEFL and I just prepared for my exams with the information available online. I didnt go for any class. I needed a visa and my visa interview went well. It just took some 5 min. It's all about how you present yourself and prove yourself. Being confident and relaxed are two important things when we attend an interview. Flying to the US or booking tickets were not a problem. The earlier you book, the lesser will be the money you pay for your tickets. The baggage rules changes from airline to airline. I was allowed to take 2 * 24 and 1*32( British airways). And there was no immigration issue and reaching the university from the airport was easy as the university did have a meet and greet service.
The program is good and so are the professors. The infrastructure offered by the university, well, I would say it is ok.
I am living in an apartment with two other friends of mine off-campus. Part time jobs are available. The social scene is not very good with a little difficulty coz of people around. So it is always advised not to go alone. There is an international students society and the events the conduct are great.
The university has some sort of career fair going every semester that mostly advantageous for the native students. It pretty hard for non-resident students to find a job in the current market trend.
