If you are looking at affordable education at the US, then look no further. This school is very cheap and provides good education for that price. Some of the stronger programs here are actuarial science, art and design, humanities, social sciences, education and aviation. It is a medium sized public institution meaning you don't know everyone who goes to school here but you get to meet plenty. Diversity is large as you get people from many different walks of life in public schools like this one.

As far as I know, you have to apply directly to this school as they do not have a Malaysian representative to help you apply. It is not hard to get into the school at all. They require a 21 on the ACT which works out to be about a 1500 on the SAT although higher scores translate into better scholarships. The school does most of the administrative work for you and as the school is recognized, getting a visa approved to this institution from the US Embassy is not hard.

There are many different scholarships to apply for, many of which are not that competitive. The International Center provides numerous small scholarships, as do the various academic departments. If you maintain a GPA of about 3.7-3.8 you should see 50% of your tuition fees covered by scholarships. The school website provides good information about funding for this school

The general education program is comprehensive an many courses under this program interesting. Not all professors are amazing, though with some research, you will be able to get into classes with the good ones. It isn't too competitive to get into the good classes. The better professors are in the humanities and social sciences faculties, the natural sciences professors are a little less impressive. Business professors are alright. If you are familiar with hard work studying for the SPM in Malaysia, then the first two years at this school will be easy and fairly laid back. Tests are not the main focus of assessment thus are not very hard, but discussion and writing skills are given fair weight. All in all, tuition here is cheap, so not every class is excellent, but with some research, you can get very good value for your money by finding the good classes.

I have been lucky to meet some really great people. People in this area are very hospitable and friendly. The size of the school is just right. With about 11000 students, 3000 of which live on campus, it is easy to get to know people. The town that it is in is small which may get boring at times, but with creativity you can find things to do. Kansas City is an hour away so, if you are craving city life, it isn't too far away. I am actively involved in housing organizations and also work for housing, providing me the opportunity to meet great people who live on campus. Accomodation on campus is somewhat expensive compared to off campus accomodation, living expenses off campus, however are dirt cheap. Part time jobs on campus are fairly competitive, though not hard to obtain. There are plenty of organizations, if you enjoy mingling with other internationals then there is the international student organization to join. if you have hobbies, interests or past times, you'll probably find a club for it on campus, and most people are so nice that you'll fit right in.

The school is no Harvard or Yale. Career Services provides great opportunities for job search but don't expect to be snapped up the moment you graduate. As long as you impress and have a decent GPA, you'll find a good job.
