University of Florida is a great place. I feel that students should consider coming here, if they get a chance.
We had to give our GRE and TOEFL. I did not prepare for these exams. Neither I attended any coaching for these exams. I used the services of educational counselors to select the universities. Needed a VISA. In Visa interview, they asked me some questions, overall it was quite okay. It was a bit difficult. Getting tickets for Gainesville was not easy. I chose Delta and I liked the services of Delta. I landed at JFK. I had to take flight to Atlanta and and then from Atlanta to Gainesville, so JFK is quite far from Gainesville. They offered some baggage allowance. 2 bags of maximum 23 Kg and one hand bag of 18kg was allowed. Excess baggage was allowed at additional cost. I didnt face any issue at port of entry. I didnt find any meet and greet by university.
I received Achievement Award.
I am quite happy by program structure. Professors are good, but there is always a room for improvement everywhere. Lecture halls are spacy and big. Library is a good place, quite quiet all the time and lot of different books.
I am living outside campus. I like Southwest rec center, and I go there regularly. Getting part time job is very very tough. I like night life at this town. I like the weather as well, quite similar to my hometown. There are many international student societies. They handle cultural events.
There is a career center and they organize job fairs each term. Hundreds of organizations attend these fairs. I have never had a chance to apply for work permit, so I do not have any idea, if it is easy or tough. I didnt find alumni society here.
