I am currently doing my Masters in Computer Engineering at the University of Florida. It’s a great place with very good facilities. My program has been structured well and its pretty interesting.

I had to write GRE and TOEFL exams as part of your admission process. Used Barrons and I also attended a coaching class though Idid not employ any educational counselor. I needed a visa, the interview experience was good. Interview is very easy. I got the airline tickets quite easily, I flew Delta, and the flight was pretty good. There was no student fare when I booked the flight. I landed at Gainesville, FL, its not very far from the institution, about 20 miles. The baggage rules were 23+23+18 (all units in Kg), excess baggage was allowed, at some extra costs. I didnt face immigration issues at the port of entry. The Indian Association at University of Florida offered the Meet and Greet service.

I am happy with the program structure. The professors are good.

I am living in an apartment, off campus. All facilities like libraries and lecture halls are great!!! Have to try a bit for part time jobs but eventually people get it. The social scene and night life are pretty good here. Florida has the best weather. There is an international student society in the university, and they handle special events like festivals, meets, etc.

The university has a placement cell, it is some what easy for international students to get jobs here. There is a campus placement process. Around 300 global organizations attend these placement events, but mostly they don’t hire international students. It is difficult to get the work permit. There is an alumni society, its very active. They do help with the placements, we have to be in touch with them and can also contact them with the help of online database.
