Singapore Polytechnic is a big and fun loving family. Though the polytechnic consists of 5 schools, School of Business, School of Engineering, School of Technology, School of Design and School of Marinetime, many activites are hosted and all 5 schools are involved. Therefore, friendship can be easily forged so long as one has the intention to find a friend. As of recently, my friend join Mr.SP, a competition to find out who is the talented and favourited student in SP. Such events are hosted so as student will not only know things within the books but also outside of it. In terms of advice that i would like to give, i would probably assure you that when you step into Polytechnic life, it's a whole new experience that you can never imagine or will ever experience, the most important thing is to stay open and treat things with a light heart. Cause people come and go. But they leave impressions that stay with you for life.
To me it wasnt very difficult to obtain a place at Singapore Polytechnic as i scored a pretty decent score for my O levels. We follow a procedure of online registration for the schools we want to go to. I would say that the selection process was very strict. As i actually wanted to change my choice of school but was rejected as the number of people entering the school have already reach the maximum. I will suggest that future students read up more on your choice of school and diplomas so as there will not be any confusion between diplomas that are almost the same but different.
My course is Business administration which provides a comprehensive broad-based business education with a wide-choice of specialisation in ■Marketing Management ■Retail Management ■Logistics and Supply Chain Management ■International Business and Trade ■Entrepreneurship We study about 6 hours daily and around 30hours weekly. The study life is defintely one of a kind and the most enjoyable i had ever experienced. The lecturers put in their best to make the lectures as fun-filled as possible and in a way becomes very comical. As of my tutorials, the tutors reinforce whatever that was taught in lectures so that we can have a in depth understanding of our topics and at the same time clear our doubts and questions. The course is Definitely value for momoney as the business world has always been short of talents, so when we graduate, i'm sure there will be a space in the market for us!
SP is one of the few schools that i've been to that is so fully equipped with facilities that will benefit the students! There are facilities like libraries, swimming pools, gym, Moberly(a place to chill for students), stadium and not to mention a few street soccer courts. The school constantly update itself with the lastest emerging trends. The fellow students in SP are very friendly, they will provide a helping hand when in need even if they dont know you. That's the beauty of SP. It is possible to find a part time job even when we're studying as the study hours end at 6 each day.
I believe that my job prospects have increase alot as there is a demand for people in the Business Administration course. I will defintiely be keeping in touch with the fellow alumni as they have imparted us knowledge and experiences that helped me go through my polytechnic life smoothly. Yes, there is Student Alumni club for us to join. I would consider joining the alumni club when i graduate as i have benefited alot from the school and would like to give something back in return.
