If time flexibility and great course content are very important to the prospective student, then RGU is the perfect option. One of the biggest risks in selecting an online course is the credibility of the school. RGU has proven to be more than great and it is accessible from anywhere in the world.
Having done a few months of research on internet/distance masters degrees, Robert Gordon University presented the best option I saw for cost, content and credibility. I was looking for a program that delivered marketing in its various forms through courses that gave the student enough time and information to truly understand the area, one that did not just gloss over the topic. The information provided on the RGU website gave the impression that this was so. I was also looking to become a Certified International Marketer and RGU was perfect for that as well.
I enjoyed the online distance learning approach. It allowed me the flexibility to still have a personal and professional life but still delivered on my goal of attaining a postgraduate degree. This also allowed me to flex my time according to all the things I needed to do - I was still able to have vacations. The most valuable aspects of the course were the elective options. They allowed for an in-depth knowledge of areas that are not normally addressed very well by other courses.
I currently work as the Innovation Marketing Manager for Diageo in Northern Latin America & the Caribbean, which includes over 40 actual countries, but is grouped together to form one market. This includes the Caribbean nations and most of Central America except Mexico. Diageo is the world's leading premium drinks company with brands such as Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker and Baileys. My role entails the strategic development of new opportunities and the delivery of products/brands that will access those opportunities. It also entails the continuous renovation of existing brands to maintain consumer relevance to access the best opportunities. Attaining a postgraduate degree is the catalyst for my success in moving from a career in information systems to marketing. It has also helped me to perpare for my present regional role, working across countries, ethnicities, consumer nuances and varying market differences. It was this degree that gave Diageos senior management team confidence in my abilities.
