Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine is located at Lauderdale, Florida. It is a nationally accredited, not-for-profit educational corporation founded in 1994 by Johanna Chu Yen, Michael C.J. Carey and Betty Z. Shannon. Students are offered either a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine or in Oriental Medicine. They are trained to become proficient in the theory and practice of acupuncture and in the preparation and prescription of Chinese herbal therapy.
