This qualification reflects the role of individuals who paint, refinish, repair and maintain painted surfaces on a range of automotive vehicles, recreational vehicles and other vehicles in the automotive industry.

International students will have the opportunity to complete the program on campus through practical training and assessment and on-the-job placements.

Opportunity exists for 18-month post-study work visa. This makes the student job-ready.

Existing workers currently employed in the industry may be eligible to complete the program through:

• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or
• QLD Government Funded Program (QLD residents only)

Course Overview

Students will develop a range of skills through practical and hands-on work in a simulated workplace environment. They will have the opportunity to learn different paint application methods using various refinishing materials.

Students will learn about:

• Workplace safety in an automotive workplace
• Identifying automotive faults
• Removing and replacing vehicle body panels and components
• Paint colour mixing and matching techniques using vehicle paint codes
• Preparing and operating vehicle paint drying equipment
• Rectifying and touching up vehicle paint faults
• Apply refinishing materials to vehicle body components
