This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work as master diagnostic technicians the automotive service and repair industry; servicing, diagnosing and repairing vehicle electrical systems and components. A range of advanced electrical diagnostic skills and knowledge is necessary, and leadership and supervision of others would be expected.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

This course is designed for international students who will be involved in classroom training in a full-time capacity to gain the qualification. These students may come from different countries and cultural backgrounds and must hold a valid student visa.

Duration

AAIC will deliver this qualification over a 52-week period which consists of total 976 student contact hours. This qualification requires students to attend 24 hours per week of theory and practical training over a period of 24 weeks (576 hours) and work placement of 20 hours per week for 20 weeks (400 hours) allowing for 8 weeks term break.

Delivery Methods

This program is delivered through classroom based face-to-face training, including simulated individual or group exercises in theory classes, practical sessions are delivered in the automotive workshop facilities and work placement is within industry. The trainer will provide any additional learning material where gaps are identified in either the student’s underpinning knowledge or the training resources.

Assessment Methods

Student will be advised of the assessment requirements at the beginning of each unit. Assessment will usually commence in the session following delivery or as advised by the trainer. As this is a competency-based program, assessment continues throughout the program until the student either achieves competency in the assessment tasks or a further training need is identified and addressed.

Employment Pathway

Students are provided with advice on employment and training options throughout the delivery of the program. Job roles and titles may vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification may include:

  • Automotive Electrician
  • Automotive Electrical Master Technician, Automotive Electrical Workshop Manager/Service Manager, Automotive Electrical Workshop Technical Service Advisor, Automotive Electrical Technician.

Pathways for further studies

After achieving the AUR40620 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, students may choose to undertake AUR50216 Diploma of Automotive Technology or other relevant qualifications.

Entry into this program requires International Students to fulfill requirements as listed below:

  • Must be 18 years of age or over
  • Those undertaking Certificate IV in Automotive Electrical Technology must have completed AUR30320 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
  • Completed year 12 (HSC or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5.5 IELTS score or equivalent as per the following:
