Life expectancy is a commonly used summary measure to assess the health of a population, and it is calculated using life tables. ‘Life tables’ is a short-form micro-credential designed to introduce this standard demographic methodology standard. Upon successful completion, enrollees will be able to describe the components of a life table and apply its rules to derive life expectancy. The micro-credential is aimed at population analysts, policymakers, planners and specialists for the health and social care professions. Enrollees will have hands-on experience accessing and analysing population data using the R software.
