Course Description

Engineering systems are complex and require careful management and control to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.

You’ll learn about classical and advanced control systems concepts, and how to design, test and commission instrument and control systems. You’ll work on large-scale case studies and use engineering software packages to model and simulate processes, design and implement appropriate control systems, and evaluate the performance of those systems. You’ll also learn how to identify suitable performance indicators to ensure the efficiency and safety of engineering systems.

Develop the use and application of computing technologies in the operation of modern industrial plants, manufacturing processes and material processing industries, with a focus on computer-based measurement and control. You’ll understand how to design, commission and test complex industrial control systems and have the opportunity to design, commission and test small-scale systems involving programming, networking and interfacing to instruments.

Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS): overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0; Test of English as a Foreign Language - IBT (TOEFL IBT): 73 with no band less than 18; Test of English as a Foreign Language - Paper Based (TOEFL - Paper Based): 534 (Test of Written English not less than 4.5); Pearson Test of English (PTE) - 50 with no band below 50; Cambridge Advanced English prior 52 with no section less than Borderline; Cambridge Advanced English after 169 overall with no band below 169 ; Occupational English Test (OET): OET with a minimum of C in the four components.

1. Recognised Engineering Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7) in the specific disciplinary area of the major,
2. Evidence of an appropriate level of industrial experience and possession of a Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7) in a technical, non-engineering area as
judged adequate by the Academic Chair or their designate, or
3. Applicants without the necessary qualifications and/or background may be admitted with the caveat that they will be required to pass additional units as part of the course requirements, as judged by the Course Coordinator or their designate. This entry option may increase the required duration to complete the degree.

English Language requirements: IELTS overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0; CAE - 169 overall with no band below 169; PTE - 50 with no band below 50; TOEFL IBT - 73 with no band less than 18; Test of English as a Foreign Language - Paper Based (TOEFL - Paper Based) - 534 (Test of Written English not less than 4.5); OET - OET with a minimum of C (250-290) in each of the four components.
