This program will gives students a diverse knowledge base and a comprehensive understanding of the principles of electricity, microcontrollers, communications and industrial electronics. Graduates will be able to apply these concepts to solve technical and scientific problems. Students should be prepared for an intensive and demanding program of study that is broad-based and highly technical in content.

Courses in the Electronics Engineering Technology program take place in both traditional lecture and laboratory settings.

Prospective students are encouraged to research the program and associated careers before applying. To be successful, electronics engineering technologists need:

  • the ability to adapt to changes and adopt new ideas
  • an aptitude for mathematics and science (especially physics)
  • keen analytical skills and the ability required to interpret plans and diagrams, troubleshoot circuits, and test materials and products
  • the ability to lead and work well with others as part of a team
  • good oral and written communication skills
  • to enjoy working with tools

Electronic technologists must be able to work and communicate with customers as well as scientists and engineers as well as supervise and co-ordinate skilled technical personnel. They may be involved in a wide variety of work responsibilities including research, design, construction, testing, sales, modification, operation, installation and maintenance of electronic equipment.
