The postgraduate research degree program in Occupational Health and Safety is conducted under the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. This program offers extensive breadth and depth of knowledge, subject-matter expertise, core competent skills and a global network of opportunity necessary to up skill and pursue desired career.
Occupational Safety and Health is a multidisciplinary field which offers a broad range of interrelated sub-disciplines for research as follow:
a) Occupational Health,
b) Occupational Medicine,
c) Safety Science,
d) Occupational/Industrial Hygiene,
e) Human Factors and Ergonomics,
f) Management System,
g) Policy and Legislation,
h) Etc.
Students will have the opportunity to perform laboratory-based research, field research or a mixture of both lab-based and field research. It is expected that the research findings will benefit not only individual, community or companies but also government agencies in formulating policy, designing better preventive strategies and effective systems for the management of occupational safety and health.
The career prospective of graduates in this program span through a wide range of private industries/sectors (such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, services, etc), governmental agencies, and non-governmental/voluntary organizations for positions such as Safety and Health Executives, Consultants, Lecturer. Research Officer, Auditor/Lead Auditor and various other administrative positions.

The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s degree (with honours) in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.000, or
The applicant who has insufficient academic qualification can be admitted into the programme subjected to any other requirement specified by the Faculty/Institute.
An applicant from a local public university who is in the final semester of his undergraduate study programme may be considered for provisional admission provided that his latest CGPA or its equivalent academic result satisfies the graduate programme admission requirements.
For applicants with one of the following
550 for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version); or
Band 6.0 for IELTS (Academic Training); or
79-80 for TOEFL Internet-based Test (Academic Version); or
Level 109 for CIEP at ELS Language Centre; or
Any English Language Test which is equivalent to B2 in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
