About Faculty

Founded in 2005, the Institute is a leading agriculture and food policy centre in the country. Our research seeks policy options towards sustainable agricultural development in Malaysia and beyond. We provide objective analyses on issues and future challenges to enhance informed policy making. We also conduct professional training for institutional and individual capacity building.

Objectives

To analyse the impact of the public policy changes, national and global on the agriculture and food sectors;

To provide policy options to the major problems in the agriculture and food sectors; and

To identify and analyse current and future issues in agriculture, food and natural resources

This field focuses on research associated with agricultural development policies. The core courses are macro-economics, microeconomics, regional economics, economic development, agricultural trade, and quantitative methods.

The applicant should possess: a Master Degree (with coursework) in a relevant field with a minimum grade average of B, or a Master Degree with thesis in a relevant field, or an outstanding Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.750 (such an applicant may apply direct admission even without a Master Degree). Admission into the programme is subject to any other requirement specified by the Faculty/Institute. An applicant from a local public university who is in the final semester of his undergraduate study programme may be considered for provisional admission provided his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the graduate programme admission requirements. English Language Requirements: International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Band 6.0; Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL), Paper Based - 550; 400 for Band 4.0 only for Malay language, Arabic, Chinese Literature, internet-based test (IBT)- 79-80.
