As cities grow in size, demand for the kind of infrastructure designed by Civil Engineers rises. This means transportation, water supply, wastewater treatment, and flood control. In order to enhance quality of life, these systems must be designed for safety, sustainability, and resilience.
In addition to availing themselves of numerous opportunities with engineering firms, Civil Engineers can and do land jobs with various government agencies, consulting firms, and construction companies. Civil Engineers often lead or participate in projects revolving around foundation analysis, building and structural inspection, surveying, geomatics, and municipal planning.
