What is the Legal Practice Course?
The Legal Practice Course, also known as the LPC, is a postgraduate course that is normally studied after an undergraduate degree or law conversion course in order to qualify as a solicitor.
You can choose from a range of electives to match your passion and career goals, utilising our expertise within each legal specialism. In addition, you’ll also have access to coaching, mentoring and placement opportunities with leading employers such as AstraZeneca, Barclays, Channel 4 and Sky, through BPP’s exclusive partnership with Aspiring Solicitors.
Assessments
You will be assessed through a range of methods, including written and oral examinations. We do not have a closed book policy and as such there are no closed book assessments on the LPC or LLM Legal Practice Course, including examinations taken online. You are permitted to take statute books, codes of practice and copies of procedure rules into all LPC exams. The majority of legal knowledge required for passing the LPC comes from these permitted sources, as opposed to case law. You can focus your revision on when and how to apply law, rather than memorising it, which most accurately reflects what it is like in practice.
Coursework is in the form of essays, reports or case studies, while group or individual presentations may be required to assess other competencies.
