This course will give you the skills to represent a situation mathematically, i.e. be able to model real-life situations. You will also develop an awareness of the relevance of mathematics to other fields of study, the world of work and to society in general. The course will also enable you to acquire the skills needed to use technology effectively in problem solving.

The specification consists of Pure Core papers and an application paper. The first year AS year consists of three modules:

• Module 1 - Pure Core 1, 100% examination
• Module 2 - Pure Core 2, 100% examination
• Module 3 - Statistics 1, 100% examination

In the 2nd year three further modules are studied to complete the full A Level.

• Module 4 - Pure Core 3, 100% examination
• Module 5 - Pure Core 4, 100% examination
• Module 6 - Mechanics 1, 100% examination

AS or A Level Mathematics is highly regarded by Higher Education institutions and can lead to many rewarding career paths. The exam board is Edexcel.
