Overview
This two-year full-time course is equivalent to the first two years of a relevant honours degree programme and has a strong emphasis on equipping students with the necessary employment skills required by a contemporary and competitive sport and leisure industry.
This innovative course is underpinned by the core themes of sports coaching, sports development, Physical Education, entrepreneurship and exercise and health.
About this course
An academic course with a practical element, the course covers modules such as project management, the sport landscape, physical activity, lifestyle and health, research project, entrepreneurship in sport, teaching practice, work experience, technology and sport, performance analysis and advanced coaching. This programme has a strong emphasis on enriching student experience within employability within the sport and leisure sector, with a range of guest speakers, site visits and a two-week work placement. This programme of study is likely to include additional enrichment activities/module(s) which are included to enhance your employability.
This programme is also delivered part-time at our Castlereagh campus over two days per week. There is also the option to become part of the Sports Academy while studying for the part-time HND Sport programme. Details can be found in the part-time prospectus.
Career Prospects
Opportunities exist for employment in sports development, sports coaching, sports administration, sports analysis and sport and leisure management positions in the sport, health, leisure and fitness industries. Alternatively, you may progress to accelerated degree programmes in sport, sports coaching, exercise and health, leisure management physical education and related fields.
