Programme Outline
This programme is for doctors practising or intending to practise in developing countries. It provides a critical understanding of the evidence for the control and management of diseases in childhood, with particular reference to endemic diseases in tropical countries.
Students will develop their ability to appraise the evidence that underlies current practice, to undertake research, and to lead improvements in the quality of health services delivered to children in both hospital and community settings.
The curriculum reflects current national and international priorities and policies in global child health. After the taught component, which does not include a formal hospital attachment or bedside teaching, participants complete a dissertation – including a period of applied research either overseas or in Liverpool.
