Program Overview
Electrical engineering is one of the broadest and largest engineering disciplines. Many electrical engineers work in the areas of design, analysis and application of electrical/electronic components, circuits and systems. Others work in areas focused on the analysis, design and application of information processing systems such as communication systems, medical imaging and military sensors.

Watson School students learn from and work with outstanding and experienced faculty in leading research areas. Students who participate in undergraduate research have the opportunity to delve into a focused area of interest, while gaining meaningful hands-on experience.
Research conducted in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering focuses on:
Information assurance and security, microelectronics and computer networks
Systems areas of communications, controls and signal processing, laser communication, photonics and optoelectronics.
After You Graduate
Electrical engineering degree students can land a job in a variety of industries. Many electrical engineers work in areas focused on the analysis, design and application of electronic and electrical components, circuits and systems. You can find the work of electrical engineers in cars, computers and power plants.
Students who graduate from the electrical engineering program can also to pursue their masters or PhD in electrical engineering or other engineering disciplines.
