The Educational Leadership program has adopted core values and beliefs that align with the six CPED principles and define what our graduates are able to do in the context of diverse learning environments. The UNT Educational leadership program develops graduates who are able to:

• Lead learning organizations
• Engage ethically with the community
• Advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion
• Develop theory to practice solutions

Dissertation in Practice: The EdD program is designed for working professionals who plan careers as district or school leaders. Accordingly, the dissertation is focused on educational problems of practice, which consequently evaluates a student's ability "to think, to perform, and to act with integrity.

Program Delivery and Supports: Delivery of all educational leadership courses are blended. The three methods courses offered by other departments are online or face to face. Students enroll in two classes each semester (fall, spring, and summer) for three years and enroll in dissertation hours year four for the completion of the dissertation. Students attend face to face classes about four times a month with the other sessions online. A cohort model allows for support and networking opportunities with classes offered at five locations. Through the generosity of the Buchholz Endowment Funds and Hilltop Securities, scholarships are available for doctoral students and those enrolled in the Super intendancy Certification Program, respectively.
