Economics for Transfer Associate in Arts Degree for Transfer

Amerika Serikat

Apa yang akan saya pelajari?

The Associate in Arts Degree in Economics for Transfer is intended for students interested in transferring to a California State University (CSU) campus with a major in Economics, or similar major. The degree seeks to expose students to the core principles and concepts in the field of Economics and provides students with an understanding and appreciation of the institutions, government policies, and international factors that impact the U.S. economy. It provides students with the lower division foundations in economics and mathematics necessary to major in economics at a CSU.

Students completing an AA-T degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. Students transferring to a CSU campus that accepts the AA-T will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor's degree. This degree may not be the best option for students intending to transfer to a particular CSU campus or university or a college that is not part of the CSU system. Students should consult with a Skyline College counselor for further information on university admissions and transfer requirements. A grade of "C" or better, or "Pass" if the course is taken on a Pass/No Pass basis, is required for each course applied to the major. Major course requirements may also be applied to meet general education requirements.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students completing this program will be able to:

  • Measure and interpret the causes and consequences of business cycle fluctuations and formulate appropriate government policies to stabilize the economy.
  • Compare and contrast the characteristics and outcomes of perfectly and imperfectly competitive markets and formulate appropriate government policies to address imperfect competition and market failures.
  • Interpret current economic events and policy in terms of business cycle fluctuations and imperfect competition, and from alternative economic perspectives
