Eligibility & selection criteria: 

full-time graduate students registered in a research-based master’s or doctoral program in Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering.
students with demonstrated leadership potential and who are conducting research in the area of steel structures; preference will be given to students working on cold-formed steel.
students must have a minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent in their last two years of full-time study.
in consultation with faculty members researching in cold-form steel at the University of Waterloo, a selection committee in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering will select recipients normally each Winter.
should an eligible candidate not be found, available funds will be held to be given out in a future year.
this award can be held in conjunction with any other major awards.
this award is in addition to the student’s minimum funding guarantee.

Award description: 

Scholarships valued at CAN $4,000 each, will be provided annually to eligible graduate students registered full time in a research-based master’s or doctoral program in Civil & Environmental Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering. Students must have demonstrated leadership potential and be conducting research in the area of steel structures; preference will be given to students working on cold-formed steel. Students must have a minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent in their last two years of full time study. Interested students should submit an application by February 28 to the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. This fund is made possible by a donation from Steelcon Group of Companies.
