Study the molecular events controlling the growth and development of cells and organisms in all living things. In this major, you'll develop an advanced understanding of the chemical basis of life and its relevance to research and development in areas like medicine, proteomics, genomics, bioinformatics, biotechnology and genetic engineering. Learn how molecular events can go wrong in certain diseased states and how this contributes to the development of new drugs. You’ll develop and apply your knowledge through practical laboratory experience, structured tutorials and specialised seminars. Career paths lead to some of the most exciting and challenging roles in science and medicine, from laboratories, hospitals or government agencies to specific positions in research.
