Climate change has been described as a public health emergency. The effects of climate change are already altering our physical environments. Human health is intrinsically linked to the health of our environment, from air and water quality to food and energy security. In addition to direct impacts on health, climate change can disrupt healthcare systems, local economies, and governance structures. The Changing Climates and Health stream provides a critical foundation in ecosystem, climate, and climate change science that can be applied to better understand mechanisms for assessing and planning for health in changing environments or to explore public health implications of natural disasters or for Indigenous populations.
