The Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology have complementary interests in gender, sexuality, and women's issues. This joint major is for those who share these interests. Students are encouraged to plan their program in consultation with advisors in both departments.The Department of Sociology and Anthropology provides an established and distinctive program of undergraduate and graduate studies that provides rigorous foundational and disciplinary training, in an environment that fosters critical thinking, creative pedagogy, experiential learning and interdisciplinary collaboration.We offer one of the few truly interdisciplinary joint sociology and anthropology departments in North America, with our interdisciplinarity boldly displayed in the curriculum structure of both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
