Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Civil Engineering

In our MASc program, we emphasize research-intensive, sustainability-focused and interdisciplinary work. You’ll pursue advanced studies, carry out independent research, and may work on creative civil engineering design under faculty supervision. Your degree will culminate in a written thesis, which you’ll defend in an oral exam. Exceptional students can fast-track to our PhD program. Students in this program will: expand their disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge through coursework and informal learning identify a research question addressing a gap in knowledge or design in civil engineering, broadly defined design experiments, field work or data analysis methods to address the research question produce original research that advances understanding of civil engineering-related topics communicate research findings and their novelty and impact through oral presentations and written publications display and exemplify ethical and professional conduct becoming of the engineering profession
