Aerospace engineers specialize in flight systems that operate in the earth’s atmosphere and in space. Few other fields offer such diverse careers as those of an aerospace engineer.

Our program combines basic science and engineering principles with a strong emphasis on design and a solid technical knowledge. The curriculum is flexible enough for you to satisfy the technical elective requirements with course work in and outside the aerospace program. Our students are given a solid foundation of science and engineering principles, with a strong background in mathematics and physics and a top-notch technical knowledge integrating aerodynamics, materials, structures, stability and control and propulsion.

Upon graduation aerospace students have developed the ability to apply engineering knowledge and skills to engineering analysis, to solve open-ended problems, to design projects, and develop useful products and processes. As a result of numerous team projects aerospace students gain experience in working within a team environment to create group synergy in pursuing team goals, and the ability to communicate technical information in written, oral, visual and graphical formats. Our students also gain an awareness and understanding of the moral, ethical, and professional importance of protecting human health and the environment.

As an aerospace engineer you may work on Earth or in space. In whatever area of the aerospace industry you choose, you'll be one of many engineers working to extend humanity's frontiers and develop a more complete understanding of our home planet. Few fields offer more fascinating or diverse careers.

Our ABET-accredited Aerospace undergraduate curriculum includes basic science and engineering principles (mathematics, physics, chemistry, statics, dynamics) with a solid technical knowledge in aerospace engineering disciplines (aerodynamics, space dynamics, materials, structures, stability and control, propulsion, aero-thermochemistry, and aircraft & spacecraft design). The curriculum is flexible enough for you to satisfy the technical elective requirements with course work in and/or outside the Aerospace Department, allowing you to take courses in Computer Engineering/Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and Chemical Engineering.)
