The mass communications program at SIUE prepares students to succeed in careers in one of the fastest growing and most dynamic areas: the mass media. SIUE’s journalism specialization prepares students for careers across modern media platforms, including newspapers, magazines, broadcast, and digital outlets. Students develop strong skills in writing, reporting, editing, and multimedia storytelling while exploring how journalism shapes public understanding and culture. Coursework combines hands-on production with conceptual study, covering media ethics, law, global communication, and the role of journalism in a democratic society.
